• Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Mains): Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), JEE Mains is the gateway to prestigious engineering colleges like NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded institutions. It consists of two papers: Paper 1 for B.E./B.Tech courses and Paper 2 for B.Arch and B.Planning courses. JEE Mains is held twice a year.
• JEE Advanced: Only those qualified in JEE Mains are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced, which grants admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). JEE Advanced is regarded as one of the toughest engineering entrance exams in the world, testing students on their analytical and problem-solving abilities in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
• State-Level Engineering Entrance Exams: Apart from JEE, various states conduct their own entrance exams such as:
  • Maharashtra CET (MHT CET): For admissions to engineering colleges in Maharashtra.
  • Karnataka CET (KCET): For admissions to engineering colleges in Karnataka.
  • West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE): For admissions to engineering colleges in West Bengal.
• Some private universities also conduct their own entrance exams, some of them are:
  • BITSAT: For Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani
  • VITEEE: For Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore
  • SRMJEEE: For SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Chennai

Exam Pattern and Eligibility

• JEE Mains:
  • Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • Mode of Examination: Online
  • Pattern: 20 Multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and 10 numerical value-based questions (only 5 to be attempted) in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
• JEE Advanced:
  • Eligibility: Top 2.5 lakh rankers in JEE Mains are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.
  • Pattern: Complex and varied question types including MCQs, integer-type questions, and match-the-following. The pattern of JEE Advanced changes each year.

• BITSAT Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with a minimum of 75% aggregate marks. Candidates must also have proficiency in English.
• VITEEE Eligibility: 10+2 with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology (50% for reserved categories).
• SRMJEE Eligibility: 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology.
